Repair Model
An Evidence-Informed Framework for Relationship Repair
The Repair Model™ was developed by Deep Rooted Wellness to help individuals, families, caregivers, co-parents, and professionals navigate conflict, rebuild trust, and strengthen relationships.
Built upon decades of research in attachment theory, family systems theory, emotional regulation, neuroscience, behavioral change, and relationship science, the model provides a practical framework for understanding why relationships become stuck and what is required for meaningful repair.
At its core, the Repair Model recognizes a simple truth:
Conflict is inevitable. Repair is learnable.
Many people spend years trying to solve relationship problems without ever being taught how to repair them. When conflict remains unresolved, relationships often become trapped in cycles of blame, defensiveness, avoidance, emotional reactivity, and disconnection. Over time, these patterns can erode trust, create instability, and impact the wellbeing of everyone involved.
The Repair Model of Care™ shifts the focus away from winning arguments or assigning blame and toward developing the skills necessary for accountability, communication, trust rebuilding, and reconnection.
One of the many models in this framework is organized around the Six R's of Repair™:
Regulate Before Response™
Develop the ability to pause, regulate emotions, and respond intentionally rather than react impulsively.
Reflect™
Increase self-awareness by examining thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and patterns that contribute to conflict.
Responsibility™
Identify and own personal contributions to conflict while developing accountability and commitment to change.
Respond Respectfully™
Communicate in ways that promote understanding, emotional safety, and productive problem-solving.
Make It Right™
Repair harm through meaningful action, follow-through, trust-building, and behavioral change.
Reconnect™
Strengthen relationships through emotional safety, trust rebuilding, and intentional connection.
Together, these six skills create a structured pathway for moving from conflict and disconnection toward healthier relationships and long-term relational stability.
The Repair Model of Care™ is the foundation of all Repair Project™ programs, Repair Pathways™, educational resources, and the Repair Guide™ workbook.
Whether applied to individuals, families, co-parents, relationships, or professional systems, the goal remains the same:
To help people develop the skills necessary to repair well, reconnect meaningfully, and create relationships that work differently moving forward.
